Q: I have just bought a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle. Will a WindbreakerCo windscreen mounting system void any part of my new bike warranty?
A: Absolutely not. We have carefully engineered the mounting plate to fit exactly where your current windscreen fits. Your motorcycle won’t know the difference but you sure will increase your ride comfort.
Q: Will the WindbreakerCo windscreen mounting system add extra wind load on to my motorcycles fairing?
A: No, in fact the WindbreakerCo system reduces the load on the original windscreen mounting fasteners as it pushes an air curtain up behind the screen that counteracts the pressure on the front of the windscreen and lessens the load on the mountings.
Q: I own a newer model Harley Davidson with Rushmore venting built into the fairing. A WindbreakerCo mounting won’t give me any improvement?
A: You will still notice a remarkable improvement in rider comfort after fitting a WindbreakerCo system to your Rushmore model. The Rushmore vents allow air to flow directly towards the rider’s face but they do not vent enough air to remove all the negative air pressure behind the windscreen that is responsible for head buffeting. Our wind tests show that you should still ride with your Rushmore center vent open after fitting a WindbreakerCo kit. We have found that closing the central vent creates extra wind turbulence in front of the windscreen that actually reduces the rear of screen wind curtain formed by the WindbreakerCo system. You may still prefer to close it in heavy rain of course.
Q: When I ride in rain will water come in through the space behind the windscreen?
A: We have wind tested and carefully engineered the gap between your windscreen and the mounting plate to create a strong wind curtain behind the windscreen, but kept the wind velocity low so that it does not carry water droplets with it. In heavy rain conditions you will see some water droplets congregate along the top of the WindbreakerCo mounting plate but these are not carried in the upwards air flow behind the windscreen. The upwards air flow actually prevents the usual problem of water droplets forming at the top of the windscreen and then running down the inside of the windscreen, reducing visibility.
Q: I have an aftermarket windscreen fitted to my bike. Will it fit ok on the WindbreakerCo mounting system?
A: If it fits into your current windscreen mounting then generally it will fit on the WindbreakerCo mounting system. The shape of some very low ‘Splitter’ style screens interferes with the perfect fitment of the WindbreakerCo windscreen mounting blocks. These are windscreens that often have complex curves at the top edges, some curved forwards to push air out and up. We do not recommend that you use these splitter style screens as their shape interrupts the smooth air flow that makes WindbreakerCo work so well. We recommend you use any single curve shape low windscreen instead.
Q: Can I buy a WindbreakerCo mounting system direct from you, the manufacturer?
A: Yes if there is no dealer or stockiest close to you, but we will pay part of the sales price to the H-D dealer that we determine is closest to you. This payment supports our dealer network who often stock our products and will give you good advice. They may even offer you a discount on the cost so we suggest you approach your dealer first and ask. If they do not have our product in stock, they can contact us and we will ship as a priority.
Q: Do the WindbreakerCo systems come in a range of colors?
A: No, we only offer black as that blends well with all the H-D factory colors. Our aim is to have the WindbreakerCo mount look to others like it was always part of your bike and the only thing you notice is the lack of wind turbulence.
Q: One or more of the brass threaded receptors that hold the windscreen fitting screws have come loose in my Ultra Classic or Limited motorcycle fairing. Can I still fit a WindbreakerCo mounting system?
A: We strongly recommend you have the mountings repaired by your H-D dealer before continuing to ride your motorcycle or fitting a WindbreakerCo mounting system. Once you have fitted a WindbreakerCo mounting plate into your Ultra Classic or Limited fairing, you will never have to run the risk of the threaded receptors coming loose again as when you change windscreens you only loosen three screws in the WindbreakerCo mounting system, not the fairing mount screws.
Q: What thread type are the screws that hold the windscreen into my WindbreakerCo mounting system?
A: They are stainless steel metric threaded screws. Each WindbreakerCo windscreen mounting kit comes with a Tee handle ball drive to make swapping windscreens quickly a breeze. When you first fit the WindbreakerCo mounting plate to your fairing you will need the correct size star driver or hex driver to remove your original windscreen and fit the mounting plate in its place, but then you need never touch those screws again.
